Terms of Service

1. Agreement

By creating an account or using Our Story Vault, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Our Story Vault is operated by Ourstoryvault - FZCO , Dubai, United Arab Emirates (“we”, “us”, “our”).

2. The service

Our Story Vault provides a private digital archive for families. Each customer receives a “vault” — a private, password-protected website where they can store and share family photos, videos, documents, family trees and written stories.

3. Your account

You must be 18 or over to create a vault. You are responsible for:

• Keeping your password secure
• All activity that occurs under your account
• Ensuring family members you invite comply with these terms

You must provide accurate information when registering. One person may hold multiple vault accounts.

4. Acceptable use

You may use Our Story Vault only for lawful purposes. You must not:

• Upload content that is illegal, obscene, defamatory, or infringes copyright
• Upload intimate images of any person of any nature
• Upload content depicting child abuse or sexual content involving minors
• Attempt to access another family's vault or any part of the service you are not authorised to access
• Use the service to harass, threaten, or harm any person
• Upload malware, viruses, or any harmful code
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or copy the service

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account that violates these terms, without notice.

5. Your content

You retain full ownership of everything you upload to your vault. By uploading content, you grant us a limited licence to store, display, and transmit it solely for the purpose of providing you with the service.

We will never use your family photos, videos, or personal content for marketing, advertising, or any purpose other than operating your vault.

6. Privacy

Our use of your personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

7. Subscription and payment

Our Story Vault is a paid subscription service. Plan prices are displayed clearly before any payment is taken. Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your card number.

Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled.

If you cancel your subscription, your vault remains accessible until the end of your current billing period. After that date, your vault and all its contents are permanently and irreversibly deleted from our servers. We will send you reminder emails before deletion occurs.

We are not liable for any loss of data following account cancellation or non-renewal.

8. Service availability

We aim to provide a reliable service but do not guarantee 100% uptime. We will notify you in advance of planned maintenance where possible.

We are not liable for any loss caused by temporary unavailability of the service.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Our Story Vault is not liable for:

• Loss of data (though we take backups — see our Privacy Policy)
• Loss of revenue or profit
• Any indirect or consequential loss

Our total liability to you in any 12-month period shall not exceed the amount you paid us in that period.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms, or if we decide to discontinue the service. We will give you reasonable notice and the opportunity to export your data before termination, except where immediate termination is required (for example, for illegal content).

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates. However, if you are an EU/EEA resident, you retain all rights granted to you under EU law including GDPR, and nothing in these Terms limits those rights.

EU residents may bring disputes before the courts of the country of Ireland.
